Fear Of Muslim Collective Punishment Grips Christian Villagers in Upper Egypt

Fear has gripped the inhabitants of the upper Egyptian village of Sheikh Telada in Samalout, 250 kilometers south of Cairo, as they anticipate collective punishment against them by the village Muslims, in the wake of two sectarian incidents which took place in the village during February. They fear their fate would be similar to that of Farshout, Nag Hamadi and Bahgoura, where Muslims destroyed, burnt and looted Coptic homes and properties prompted by incidents provoked by Muslims against only one Copt.

ASSUIT, EGYPT

(ANS) – An Egyptian court in the southern city of Assuit acquitted this week four Muslims accused of killing 61-year-old Farouk Attallah on October 19, 2009.

This has been reported by Mary Abdelmassih in a story for the Assyrian International News Agency (www.aina.org) who said, “In broad daylight and in full view of witnesses, the killers fired 31 bullets to his head before beheading him, in the busy village market place of Attaleen, near Dairout, 313 kilometers south of Cairo,” said, The dead body was then dragged in the street, accompanied by shouts of victory.

 تعلن منظمة نور الشمس عن أخلاء سبيل 6 من المعتقلين ال 15 المؤكلين عنهم رسميا ، وذلك بعد أتخاذ الاجراءات القانونية وهى( تظلمات – وتقديم بلاغ للنائب العام تحت رقم     3715 عرائض النائب العام بتاريخ 24 / 2 / 2010.)

وكذلك تنظيم وقفة أحتجاجية مع أهالى المعتقلين . وأيضا قمنا بمقابلة بعض المسئولين على رأسهم الدكتور / أحمد فتحي سرور رئيس مجلس الشعب من أجل أخلاء سبيل المعتقلين وبعض القضايا الاخرى ، وكان ذلك يوم 22/ 2 / 2010 بمجلس الشعب ، وقد قام سيادتة بالاتصال بالجهات المعنية بناء على طلبنا  ووعد بالافراج عن عدد 6 معتقلين منهم فى أقرب وقت نظرا لظروفهم الصحية .

Egyptian State Security Accused of Torturing Christian Youth

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(AINA) -- Egyptian State Security has been accused by lawyers, rights activists and victims' families of torturing the Christian youths arrested in the aftermath of the Christmas Eve shootings of Copts on January 6, 2010. The shooting in the southern town of Nag Hammadi resulted in the death of six and the injury of nine Christians (AINA 1-7-2010).

Egypt court acquits Muslims of Copt murder

CAIRO — An Egyptian court on Monday acquitted four Muslims accused of killing an elderly Christian, saying that testimony from witnesses had not established they were the murderers, a judicial source said.

The men were arrested in October after the elderly Copt was killed at his home in the southern village of Dairut.
