Mother of Egyptian-British activist expresses fears over hunger strike

CAIRO (Reuters) – The mother of a renowned Egyptian activist who recently gained British citizenship says she fears she may not see him alive again as he approaches the end of the sixth week of a hunger strike over prison conditions.
Laila Soueif said that during a visit to her son Alaa Abd el-Fattah in prison in Cairo on Thursday an officer warned that he could block her from visiting again after she complained about alleged violations against Abd el-Fattah.
A Coptic priest has been stabbed to death in Egypt by a passerby outside a beach club on a popular seaside promenade.
The knifeman stabbed Arsanious Wadid, 56, three times in the Sidi Bishr area of the northern city of Alexandria on Thursday.
Wadid, who served as a priest in the city's Meharam Bek district, was rushed to Mostafa Kamel Military hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

وذكرت في بيان صحفي تم إرساله إلى وسائل الإعلام أن المعاهدة المقترحة تمت صياغتها من قبل عدد من كبار المسؤولين والمشرعين وخبراء الأمم المتحدة، وأنها تمثل نهجاً جديداً لوضع قواعد دولية واضحة وبسيطة ولا جدال فيها لحظر جميع الاستخدامات السياسية للدين التي تقوض المساواة الإنسانية، وجميع أشكال التمييز في الحقوق والواجبات على أسس دينية وحظر الإقصاء الديني وأي تقييد لحرية الاعتقاد والعبادة.
