(AINA) -- The official results of the first round of the Egyptian presidential elections were announced today, the run-off will be between Mohamed Morsy, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, and Air Marshal Ahmad Shafik, Mubarak's last PM, who served for less than one month during the revolution and before Mubarak was ousted.
This results, which were expected since Friday, has enraged many Egyptians who feel that they are left with two options, each worst than the other, namely either going back to the Mubarak regime represented by Shafik or the Islamists who will drag Egypt into being another Afghanistan or Iran. Nasserist candidate Hamdeed Sabahy, favored by a great number of youth -- especially those who participated in the 25 January Revolution, came in third.

Islamo-Christian violence in Minya: life imprisonment for 12 Copts, eight Muslims acquitted," from Asia News, May 22 (thanks to C. Cantoni):
Cairo (AsiaNews/Agencies) - An Egyptian court has sentenced 12 Coptic Christians to life imprisonment and acquitted eight Muslims, in a trial heavily criticized by human rights activists and legal experts. The ruling came yesterday, at the end of a trial called to shed light on the sectarian violence last year in the province of Minya, in the southern part of the country, about 220 km from Cairo. Ishak Ibrahim, a researcher and expert on Egyptian law, emphasizes that "the acquittal of the eight Muslim defendants" shows that "the investigations started from the beginning by the attorney general are unfair and wrong" because there was "clear evidence of guilt against them, for having set fire to Christian properties."
Minya Criminal Court on Monday sentenced 12 Copts to life imprisonment in the Abu Qurqas sedition case, the events of which left three people dead.
Head Judge Abdel Fattah Ahmed al-Sughayar acquitted eight other Muslim defendants.
On 18 April, a fight broke out between some residents of Abu Qurqas village in Minya Governorate over the construction of a speed bump outside the house of a Christian lawyer.
Muslim Brotherhood Attempting to Disenfranchise Egyptian Christian Voters
(AINA)
The Egyptian presidential election campaigns are coming to an end, with voting slated for May 23 and 24. Ruthless smear tactics have been used by the different candidates to disqualify each other, most of these targeting candidates who advocate a civilian state. An intensive psychological war is being waged against the Christian voters to disenfranchise them by "spreading lies around their preferred candidates and using tricks to weaken their vote by dividing it," says Coptic activist Waguih Jacob.
Because of their considerable numbers, the Copts have been approached by nearly all candidates for their support, some even promising to make one of the presidential deputies a Copt. According to the Coptic Church's registry of births and deaths, its followers are between 15-17 million in a total Egyptian population of 82-85 millions. "They make a big voting block which can tip the scales towards a particular candidate," says Dr. Emad Gad, vice-director of the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and an elected member of parliament. "Their vote would be particularly effective in a run-off, if no candidate scores more than 50 percent in the first round."
Mayo Clinic Dumps Radical Muslim Doctor for Promoting Female Genital Mutilation (Video)

It wasn’t that long ago that Hatem Elhagaly was promoting female genital mutilation. Now he’s gone. Medicine Men reported:
Hatem Elhagaly (AKA “Hatem Al Haj”), a medical doctor and fellow at the American Elhagely Academy of Pediatrics, ignores FGM’s detrimental effects on women’s health, and instead argues that it is ‘an honor’ for women. He justifies this position by referring repeatedly to the words of classical Islamic scholars from the four schools of mainstream Sunni Islamic thought, all of which attest to FGM’s legitimacy under Islam. He also refers to the words of the Prophet Muhammad himself, who reportedly counselled people in his day on how to perform FGM in a way that would be “more beautiful to behold and better for [the woman's] husband.”
Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood's Mobile Medical Convoys Offering Free Female Genital Mutilation
Obama say, "Respect it!" Remember, he made a point of having Brotherhood leaders in the audience when he gave his notorious speech in Cairo on June 4, 2009. And he has applauded as the Brotherhood moves to take power in Egypt.
This is the Brotherhood Egypt that Obama wants: institutionalized misogyny under the sharia (Islamic law) sanctions clitorectomies, also known as female genital mutilation. David Littman, historian and human rights activist at the United Nations (Geneva) since 1986, has stated that 95% of the girls/women in Egypt have been clitorectomized.

Seems it is illegal for a woman to travel on her own in Saudi Arabia. When his wife went on a business trip without his consent, her husband divorced her live on the radio.
Saudi Arabia has one of the highest divorce rates in the world. In 2010, over 18,765 divorce cases were recorded. According to a local expert, Awad al-Harbi, this means one divorce occurs every 30 minutes.
The reason for the high number of divorces? In Saudi Arabia it is extremely easy to get a divorce. No long drawn out court cases are required and a husband can divorce his wife on the radio or even by SMS.
An unnamed Saudi man has recently divorced his wife because she "disobeyed" him. The wife took the liberty of going on a business trip alone, which is not allowed in the Arab republic.

Three of On TV's top journalists specifically named in the letter as targets for kidnapping and murder.
According to Al Ahram, Egypt's leading newspaper, a shadowy organization calling itself the "Jihad Group to Cleanse the Country" is threatening On TV, one of the nation's leading liberal media stations, which regularly exposes the Islamist agenda. It sent a letter to the president of the station threatening to target its studios and facilities, as well as kidnap some of its top reporters and journalists, holding them for a $20 million ransom or otherwise "liquidating" them. The message further threatened other media and organizations dealing with On TV with "painful and severe punishments."
