Contrary to the misleading and offensive rhetoric given in speeches by members of Sydney’s Muslim community,(during a rally held near the Lakemba Mosque on 31 January 20011), the fall of Mubarak was not as a result of western influence, or that “the US or Britain dropped g their “Arab Puppet”.

The reality of the situation is, The Muslim Brotherhood have had a personal vendetta with Mubarak for 30 years. He kept them on a tight leash and came down on them with ruthless force in the lead up to the December 2010 election. They lost every seat in parliament (88), and over 1600 MB members and supporters were arrested and detained.
The revolution was a gift horse “that they never dreamed of”.

I commend Frontline for their report on “the behind scenes role played by the Muslim brotherhood to ensure the demise of Mubarak”

(Below is part of transcript of the report by Charles as shown in the video.)

“Egypt's revolution may have been ignited by young secular activists, but there was another powerful force at work behind the scenes of the uprising: the long-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.”

“Anyone who has covered Egypt for years knows about the Brotherhood's profound influence on Egyptian society. Coming back at this extraordinary time, I wanted to find out what part they were playing in this revolution.”

“On Tahrir Square, I found Mohammed Abbas, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood's youth wing. For the past month, Abbas had been working alongside secular activists from the April 6 movement to help organize the revolt.

He was eager to show us what he and his fellow brothers had contributed.”

“It wasn't until three days into the protests that the Muslim Brotherhood's senior leadership officially threw their weight behind the revolt. Now the Brothers were running the security checkpoints, serving hot tea, distributing blankets, printing posters and running an emergency health clinic”.

“They call themselves the Brothers, in Arabic, the Ikhwan, and they have decades of experience providing social services to Egypt's poor. They became key to holding the revolution's infrastructure together.”

“And it's from the garbage collection, teacups and so on and so forth. It's even the one microphone or the two microphones which we have to address the crowd. They are owned by the Muslim Brotherhood, which isn't attached to the strong organizational skills of the movement. Not only that in fact, those who defended the demonstrators on Tuesday and Wednesday were Ikhwan members in Tahrir against thugs of the Egyptian regime.

“When things turned violent, it was young Muslim Brothers who pushed the regime supporters back.”

“The Muslim Brotherhood is 600,000 dues-paying members. They really cut a pretty wide swathe across the demography of Egypt.

They are from largely lower- and middle-class neighborhoods, but there is also a professional class that controls the syndicates. And they're doctors and engineers and lawyers. So, this is really a very strong movement within Egyptian society and one that is very layered.”

“They disrupted a lot of their social service networks, clinics and schools, and really pushed the movement down, so that it wouldn't challenge them in opposition. And in 2010, they boycotted those elections. But they stand poised in the future of Egypt to be quite a powerful force.”

Commentary:

The revelations disclose members of the Muslim Brotherhood not only actively assisted in organising the revolution; they in fact knew it was coming, “it was the pay back”.

The senior leadership of the MB waited 3 days, before unleashing their well oiled machine and swung into action to ensure the revolution DID NOT loose momentum.

(My question is “was the Army aware of the pending revolution”?)

Let’s look at the actions of the army and not forget that on the day of the victory celebration, (1 week to the day after the fall of Mubarak)

  • The youth that organised the revolution played no role in this momentous occasion.
  • The Prayers, sermon and victory speech was made by the banned father figure of the Muslim Brotherhood Yusuf Qaradawi.
  • It was the Army that forced the hand of Mubarak and forced him to step down. Yes it was the army and not any western nation, “switching its allegiance in Egypt that brought down Hosni Mubarak”.
  • It was also the Army that escorted Qaradawi, guarded him and returned him to his home after the sermon and speech.
  • It was also the army that refused to appoint a civilian committee to re write the constitution and instead handpicked a 10 man panel to AMEND certain articles of the constitution exclusive of Article 2.
  • Egypt's Military Council, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, formed a panel charged with drafting modifications to Egypt's current (albeit suspended) constitution.
  • In forming this new panel, the Council dissolved another one that was formed in the last days of Mr. Mubarak's rule, which included ten renowned, and 'apolitical,' judges, academics and public personalities.
  • Instead of relying on those experts, the Council created a new, smaller panel that includes two Islamists. Not only is neither an expert person on constitutional issues, but one is a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood the other is a theorizer of extremist views, especially regarding the position of non-Muslims in the Islamist state he proclaims. THE COPTIC PEOPEL
  • By excluding from the panel political representatives from all other parts of the political spectrum even those behind or participating in the 'January 25 Revolution' the military is sending an unambiguous message regarding its bias (for whatever reasons) towards the Islamists.

Coptic Solidarity made the below statement”

“We at COPTIC SOLIDARITY were deeply concerned by the military's earlier rejection of creating a civilian council to share the responsibility of running the country during a transitional period. We are also extremely disturbed and disappointed by the current Council's intentions regarding the whole concept of a 'civil state' in Egypt—one of the demands of the Revolutionaries—and whether it indeed concocts a military-Islamist coalition to govern Egypt.

We at COPTIC SOLIDARITY call upon the military Council to perform its duties in a fair and non divisive manner, leading the country towards a truly democratic system, based on liberty, equality and secular principles. We also call upon all political leaders and human rights organizations worldwide who have admired or supported the popular revolution that toppled Mubarak's despotic regime, to continue their support of the Egyptian people against all attempts that would make them prey to any kind of fascism.”

  • It is the army reshuffling the interim cabinet and swearing in new Ministers.
  • It was also the army that allowed two Iranian warships access via the Suez Canal to Syria, the first time since 1979.
  • It is also the same army that permitted the disgraceful anti Israel protest that received virtually no media coverage. Yes, “Two Million Egyptians Chant Death to Israel”. Watch videos by clicking below:

  • Islamic supremacy is rapidly raising its ugly head in Egypt; I need not mention this weeks attack on Monasteries by the Army and the Murder of Father Dawoud by four Muslim men.

The antics of the Egyptian Army not only alarm Israel, the west and the Copts.

Now Saudi Arabia is raising very serious questions about the kindness of the Egyptian army towards “the mad man of Iran”, (who is desperately attempting to speed up Iran’s nuclear program.)

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is so worried, that on Tuesday they announced a deal with France to collaborate on the research, development and handling of nuclear materials “for peaceful purposes only”, (of course).

Why would the world's biggest oil exporter, the country with the most reserves on the globe, be investing in nuclear energy of all things?

The Saudis' official reason is that they wish to reduce their country's consumption of oil and gas in the coming decades. The truth, however, is that Saudi Arabia is very concerned about the changing allegiances in the middle east, especially when it comes to their number one threat “IRAN”. (The wiki leaks disclosed they implored the US to attack Iran and take the head of the snake).

I will conclude by saying

“The actions of the Egyptian Army over the last week leave a lot to be desired and certainly do not make the Copts proud”.

  • I call on all Copts to contact the Army via their newly created face book page and utterly reject the panel amending the constitution.
  • The Copts as Egyptian citizens and indigenous to Egypt, demand the Army create a new panel that represents all sectors of society including the COPTS.
  • We call for a full review of the suspended constitution and every article, and not amendments to specific articles.
  • I also call on the army to immediately stop the criminal attacks on places of worship, and provide the necessary protection and security.

I can not see the urgency or necessity for the Army to step in and demolish the fences in the current climate.

The Army is fully aware of the absence of security forces and police that has rendered parts of Egypt virtually lawless, (especially in remote areas and Upper Egypt).

The army is fully aware prisoners escaped during the revolution and the majority are Islamic militants.
More so for the army to step in over a dispute involving fences and open fire on Men of god is reprehensible. I same Army did not touch a soul during the protests, yet they did not hesitate to attack the Monks and demolish the fences leaving the monasteries vulnerable.

The picture that is emerging is “the Army has an allegiance with the Muslim Brotherhood in a bid to maintain support and hence their own Power”.
It is extremely concerning and dire that the Army appears to be using the Coup as an opportunity to reinforce Islam, appease the MB, support Iran, and allow the incitement of radicals against Israel.

God have Mercy on Egypt.
