Muslim Brotherhood WIN "Egypt Will Remain an Islamic State"

"Islam is the Religion of the State. Arabic is its official language,

and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia)."

The Constitutional Reform Committee hastily slapped together by the Egyptian Army has finalized its recommended amendments to the constitution and will present them to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

The committee has amended eight articles from the 1971 constitution, including reducing the presidential term from six to four years. The committee, headed by Tarek El-Bishry, former first deputy of the Council of State, was appointed by Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Armed Forces, to amend the Constitution before the presidential elections.

The constitutional amendment committee also said

“it would not be amending Article II of the Constitution, which states that Islam is the state religion”,

or Article V, which explicitly prohibits

“Establishment of political parties on any religious ideology or foundation." {Despite the latter, the court has already approved of the “Wasat Party”, an off shot of the Muslim Brotherhood.}

Saleh, a lawyer and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, described the discussions among the committee members as being “fruitful, serious and deep.

“I can say with a sigh of relief that the committee’s decisions are unanimous,” Saleh added.

In response to comments made by a university professor saying that there is a defect in one of the articles, [referring to article 2] Saleh said

“That article is not open to discussion; the articles amended have to do with legislative and presidential elections and parliamentary and presidential jurisdictions”.

He then added “Article 179, which allows the president to transfer ‘terrorism-related’ cases to military courts, will be cancelled altogether”.

During the first televised interview with representatives of the military council, an army general said that the suggested amendments will be put forth for public debate including civil society, citizens and the media before conducting a referendum. The Egyptian constitution is made of 211 articles. It was adopted in 1971 and amended in 1980, 2005 and 2007.

Saleh is clearly relieved that the constitution will recognise Islam is the dominant religion of the country, and many would argue he has every right preserve the “Islamic identity” of Egypt and have it enshrined in the constitution.

The flip side of the coin is, “do non Muslim states now have the right to follow the Egyptian precedent and enshrine their Judo Christian Heritage in their constitutions?”

Is it fair and reasonable to submit, every non Muslim country is equally entitled to protect their heritage and founding principles?

Surely what is good for one is good for all or simply not good at all.

The retention of Article 2 emphatically states “Islam will be the basis for ruling the state and deriving laws for Egypt.

My submission is, If Islamic countries are permitted to preserve their Islamic Identity, it would naturally flow that Non Islamic states are entitled to likewise enshrine their identity in their constitutions and protect their nationally identity. Surely no Muslim person would be so hypocritical as to object to such a proposition, “protecting the core founding principles of the nation.”

Without such protection, any non Muslim nation could become tomorrows EGYPT.

Let’s not forget Egypt was a Christian nation until the Islamic conquest of the 7th century.  After been conquered by Islam, they dominated the nation, forced many to convert, and have enshrined Islam in the constitution making it legally unlawful, “UNCONSTITUIONAL” to revert the state to any other creed.

It really is time for all western and non Muslim nations to look closely at the Islamic definition of “democracy”, the dogmatic stance of Egypt and the precedent they have set before the whole world. These countries MUST utilise this precedent and protect their own nations from the one way street of Islamic conquest.

Egypt has a 10%-15% Christian Coptic population, “they have been ignored and rendered insignificant despite been the indigenous native of the land.”

In comparison Australia has about 2% Muslim population, what would the reaction be if our constitution was amended to read?

“Judo-Christianity is the Religion of Australia. English is its official language, and the principal source of legislation is Judo-Christianity Jurisprudence ( The 10 commandments).”
