Egyptian Christian dies of wounds sustained in Libya attack

MINYA, Egypt – An Egyptian Christian died Saturday of wounds he sustained in a militant attack in Libya, medical sources said.

Salama Fawzi, 23, had been injured in a militant attack in the eastern city of Benghazi last week.

But the young Christian Copt succumbed to his wounds at hospital in the Upper Egyptian city of Samallout on Saturday.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has called on Libyan authorities to launch an investigation into the attack, which came one week after seven Egyptian Christians were killed executive-style in Benghazi.

Libya has been struggling to restore order more than two years after the ouster of late strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
